Babylo in Embroidery and Crochet

Babylo is a firm, semi-matt outline thread in embroidery and the basic thread of lace and edging in crochet: mercerised cotton, tightly twisted, No 10–20–30, in white, ecru and colours matched to floss codes. It is used for scarf edging, crochet lace, lace collars, bold lines in satin stitch and chain stitch on linen. Stitch, Needle and Hook

For chain, stem and bold outlines in embroidery use No 20 or 30 single, with a size 5–7 sharp needle; the tight twist keeps the stitch crisp. For crochet edging use No 20–30 with a 1–1.25 mm steel hook, for lace collars and shawls No 20 with a 1.25–1.5 mm hook. Cut 40–45 cm lengths; starch the finished lace. One 100 g ball of No 10 is enough for a medium runner, a ball of No 20 for several scarf edgings.
