Winter Knitting Yarns

Winter yarns are wool and wool-acrylic blends: warm, lofty and right for hats, scarves, sweaters and blankets. This category carries Gazzal Wool Star (100 g wool-acrylic, wide card), Gazzal Unicorn hand-dyed gradient yarn and chunky winter yarns. Wool-acrylic washes more easily and itches less than pure wool. Which Yarn for Which Winter Project?

For hats and scarves knit Wool Star on 5–6 mm needles: one ball makes a hat, 2–3 a scarf. A sweater takes 6–10 balls, a blanket 8–12; keep the dye lot the same. Unicorn hand-dyed yarn shifts colour within one ball, striking in scarves and shawls. Chunky yarns move fast on 8–10 mm needles.
