Snap Frames for Tapestry

A snap frame is a square frame of PVC tubes to which the canvas is fixed with clips; it does not bend tapestry canvas, leaves no ring mark and tension is set by turning the clips. This page gathers Calin clip frames in 20×20 and 20×28 cm with 2-packs of spare clips, the most practical alternative to a scroll frame for medium printed tapestries. All snap frames are in Snap Frames, tapestry hoops and stands in Tapestry Hoops.

Use on a Large Tapestry

If the canvas is larger than the frame, roll the unstitched part onto the tube and clip over it, sliding along as the finished section grows. Clips leave no mark on canvas; slip a fabric strip between if they stay on long. Wool and floss options are in Tapestry Threads.
