Duck Fabric in Embroidery
Duck is one of the most practical grounds for modern hoop embroidery and fine punch needle: its dense weave carries stem, satin and French knots neatly, does not slacken in the hoop, and its colours make the motif stand out. This category sells Etuval cotton duck 180 cm wide in light blue, beige, pistachio green and more by the metre. All colours are in Duck; other grounds in Other Fabrics, calico in Calico and Buldan Cloth, linen in Linen.
Tips for Embroidering on Duck
Cut the fabric 8–10 cm larger than the hoop, wash, press and stretch it drum-tight; 2–3 strands of floss and a size 7 sharp embroidery needle pass easily. Transfer the design with soluble stabilizer, carbon paper or EasyStitch, white carbon on dark duck. For punch use a fine needle with pearl cotton No 5–8. Half a metre yields 4–6 hoop panels; wash finished work at 40 °C and press from the back.
