Embroiderable Table Textiles

A cross stitched table set is a trousseau and gift classic: placemats and serving napkins with an Aida border and finished hems are counted and stitched directly. This category carries 39 cm embroiderable placemats and 14 cm serving napkins; stitch the same motif on both for a set. Towels, rugs and cloths are in Embroiderable Home Textile; all stitchable blanks in Other Textile Products.

How to Stitch Them

Start the border motif at a corner or the centre with 2 strands of DMC floss and a size 24 blunt needle; the band is about 14 ct. No hoop is needed, though a magnetic hoop helps on the narrow band. A placemat border takes 1–2 hours, a napkin 20–30 minutes; buy 6 of each for a six-place set. Wash at 40 °C and press from the back.
