Mez Coats Nylbond Nylon Thread

Nylbond is Coats' nylon-based extra strong sewing thread, used where polyester might break: leather and faux leather, denim, bags and upholstery, sewing on buttons and snaps, and assembling amigurumi and toys. Its elasticity stops puckering and it resists washing and abrasion. Nylbond spools are listed here in a wide colour card. For everyday sewing see Puppets and Drima, for premium Gütermann, and all threads in Sewing Threads.

Where and How to Use It

Use a size 90–100 or leather machine needle, or a size 3–5 hand needle; double it on leather and bag handles. It is the thread of choice for attaching amigurumi limbs, securing safety eyes and tying pompoms because it never snaps, and it serves as macramé and necklace cord too. Nylon is heat-sensitive, so press seams on low heat. One spool covers several bags or dozens of amigurumi.
