Fabric for Tufting and Thick Punch

Tufting cloth is a weave open enough for the needle yet strong enough to carry the loops of a tufting gun or thick punch needle. This category sells Hobianna tufting cloth 220 cm wide and Etuval jute panama 110 cm wide by the metre. The tufting cloth is synthetic and tear-proof, the jute natural and matte; both serve rugs, mats, wall hangings and large punch panels. How to Use It

Stretch the fabric drum-tight on a frame with staples or carpet tack strip and work from the back with the thick punch needle or tufting gun. Heavy wool and acrylic yarns suit rugs. When finished, coat the back with rug glue and cover it with felt or cloth backing; shear the loops if you want a flat velvet pile.
