Punch and Embroidery Canvas
A punch canvas is dense cloth stretched on a wooden stretcher frame like a painter's canvas: no hoop is needed, the drum-tight surface keeps punch loops even and the finished piece hangs on the wall in its frame. This category lists the Punch and Embroidery Canvas in several sizes. The size and needle guide is in Punch Canvas under Punch Needle Hoops, fabric options in Punch Cloth, canvas by the metre in Cloth.
How to Punch on Canvas
Draw the design with a pen or carbon paper; use tapestry wool and cotton with the medium needle or knitting yarn with the thick needle. The canvas weave is firm, so fine needles may struggle: medium and thick are recommended. Loops cannot escape from the back inside the frame; glue the back when done. A 20×20 cm canvas is a one-day project, and satin stitch mixes in for combined panels.
