Patchwork and Quilting Fabrics

Patchwork joins pieces of differently printed fabric; choosing pieces of equal weight in non-shrinking cotton makes sewing and pressing easy. Choosing Fabric for Patchwork

A project looks balanced with 3–5 prints and 1–2 solids; large prints go in big pieces, small prints in narrow strips. Wash and press fabric before cutting and allow a 0.75 cm seam. Poplin's dense weave suits hand and machine sewing for cushions, bags, quilts and tablecloths.
