Milward Hand Sewing Needles

Which Needle for Which Job?

The higher the number, the finer the needle: 9–10 for silk and viscose, 7–8 for cotton and linen, 5–6 for denim and wool. Short betweens speed quilting and fine hemming; long sharps suit basting and running stitch. Straw needles are long and strong for piercing straw, felt and thick materials. A needle should pass without leaving a mark.
