Mez Transparent Sewing Thread

Transparent thread is a fine, clear nylon monofilament that stays invisible on fabric of any colour, so no colour matching is needed. It is used for joining appliqué and patchwork, attaching ribbon, beads, sequins and spangles, curtain and tulle hems and sewing beads onto cross stitch. Mez transparent thread is listed here on spools. Coloured threads are in Puppets and Gütermann, strong thread in Nylbond, all threads in Sewing Threads.

How to Use It

On the machine use it as top thread with a size 70–80 needle and the top tension one step lower; the bobbin can be polyester. By hand use a single strand on a fine size 9–10 needle for beads and sequins. Nylon is heat-sensitive: press on low heat through a cloth. Zigzag or blind stitch on appliqué edges makes the seam vanish; knot the end twice, since knots can slip.
