Evenweave and Linen Fabrics
Evenweave is woven from single, evenly spaced threads; cross stitch is usually worked over 2 threads and looks finer and fuller than on Aida. This category carries Zweigart Belfast 32 ct linen, Zweigart Linda 27 ct evenweave, 28 ct options and Hobianna Nazende hand-dyed batik evenweave in white, ecru and colours at 140–160 cm width. All fabrics are in Evenweave Fabric.
Counting Evenweave
Worked over 2 threads, 28 ct evenweave equals 14 ct Aida and 32 ct linen equals 16 ct, so chart sizes are calculated accordingly; over 1 thread gives very fine, detailed results. The edges fray easily, so overlock or tape them before stitching, and use a clip frame or scroll frame for even tension.
Belfast or Linda?
Belfast is 100% linen at 32 ct; Linda is cotton at 27 ct, softer and more affordable.
