Summer Knitting Yarns

Summer yarns are cotton, mercerised and cotton-acrylic blends: breathable, light and washable. Which Yarn for Which Summer Project?

Glossy, drapey mercerised yarn for tops, vests and dresses; firm cotton or raffia for beach bags and baskets; soft Baby Cotton for baby summer wear; Jeans for amigurumi. Summer projects use 3–4.5 mm hooks and needles; cotton has no stretch, so make a swatch first. A 100 g ball is about 200–250 m and a summer top needs 300–400 g.
