Linen Fabrics for Sewing
Linen is cool, natural and durable, sewn into tablecloths, runners, curtains, bags, aprons and summer garments. This category sells FL11 natural linen, 180 cm wide with a dense 36 ct weave, and beige striped linen by the metre. Because the same natural linen also serves as a ground for counted embroidery and cross stitch, all linens are collected in Linen.
Sewing Tips for Linen
Linen shrinks 3–5% in the first wash, so wash and press before cutting. Use a size 80–90 machine needle with polyester or cotton thread, and overlock or turn the edges because they fray. The 180 cm width is economical for one-piece tablecloths and curtains; the 36 ct weave gives an even ground for embroidery and printing. Striped linen suits kitchen textiles and bags.
