Hoop Types for Cross Stitch
A hoop keeps the Aida taut so every cross comes out even. This category carries Nurge screw-tension wooden hoops (10–30 cm), Hello plastic embroidery and punch hoops, Calin clip rectangular frames that tension all four sides without a ring mark, a Nurge wooden quilting hoop for large work, plus spare clips and extension bars. All hoops are in Hoops.
Which Hoop for Which Work?
A 15–20 cm screw wooden hoop covers small and medium designs and doubles as a frame on the wall. Plastic hoops are practical when fabric is changed often or washed. For prayer rugs, tablecloths and large pictures, a clip frame or quilting hoop wraps the fabric and avoids ring marks. Choose a hoop 3–5 cm larger than the design.
How do I avoid hoop marks?
Bind the inner ring with tape and take the fabric out of the hoop between sessions.
