Embroidery Hoop Types

A hoop keeps the fabric taut so stitches come out even, and since modern embroidery is often left in the hoop and hung on the wall, looks matter too. This category carries Nurge screw-tension wooden hoops (10–30 cm), Hello plastic hoops, Calin clip rectangular frames that tension all four sides, a Nurge quilting hoop for large work and spare clips. All hoops are in Hoops.

Which Hoop for Which Embroidery?

For hoop art and small motifs a 15–20 cm screw wooden hoop serves both stitching and display; gather and stitch the back when finished. Plastic hoops are practical for pieces that will be washed and for frequent fabric changes. Tablecloths, runners and large panels go in a clip frame that leaves no ring mark. Choose a hoop 3–5 cm larger than the design and bind the inner ring with tape so the fabric does not slip.
