Storage and Organizing for Tapestry

Tapestry pictures call for 40–100 colours of wool; matching threads to the key symbols and keeping them in order is half the work. This category carries Hobianna wooden thread organizers (wool and floss held in coded holes), the DMC cardboard box, the Milward thread storage box and the Buratini organizer. All storage products are in Storage and Organizing, Hobianna designs in Thread Organizers, other aids in Tapestry Tools.

How to Organize Tapestry Threads

Write the key symbols on the organizer in order and loop a 40 cm length of each colour; a 100-colour picture takes 3–4 organizers kept in code order in a box. Store wool in a closed box, dry, with a lavender sachet against moths, and floss away from light. Protect an unfinished canvas on its frame with a cover. Afterwards return leftover wool labelled to the box to top up the next picture.
