Tablecloths for Cross Stitch
A cross stitch bordered tablecloth is a trousseau classic. The Zweigart stitchable tablecloth 90×90 cm has a countable weave for direct cross stitch; the linen tablecloth 160×255 cm and runner 45×155 cm are densely woven for surface embroidery, or cross stitched with water-soluble canvas. Hems are finished. All table linen is in Tablecloths & Runners; towels and rugs in Embroiderable Home Textile; charts in Cross Stitch Magazine.
Stitching a Border
Begin at a corner and repeat the motif symmetrically on all four sides, corners first, fillers next. On the Zweigart cloth use 2–3 strands of DMC floss and a size 22–24 blunt needle; a scroll frame evens the tension on large cloths. A 90×90 border takes 20–40 hours, a runner 10–20. Wash at 40 °C and press damp from the back.
Can I cross stitch on linen?
