Tel Kırma Wires

Tel kırma wire is a flat, flexible metal strip broken with the needle on tulle to form motifs; silver and gold are classic, coloured strips serve modern pieces. How Much Wire Is Needed?

A scarf border takes 10–30 m, a wrapping cloth or small cover 30–60 m, a prayer rug or tablecloth 100–200 m; densely filled motifs use more. Thread the strip into the double-eyed needle, cut 30–40 cm lengths and break at every stitch; twist wire is used with flat strip for edges and shading. Keep wire dry; steam the finished piece lightly, never iron. One brand and thickness per piece gives an even surface.
