Aids for Tapestry Work
Fine canvas holes and chart symbols tire the eyes; a magnifier and good light improve both speed and neatness. This category carries the DMC LED magnifier (hung around the neck or set on the table, lights the canvas) and the DMC clip-on magnifier with removable lens (clips to a hoop or table edge). Other tapestry aids are in Tapestry Tools, scissors in Scissors, and all craft aids in Other Tools.
Which Magnifier for Whom?
The neck-worn LED magnifier leaves both hands free in an armchair without a stand, and its light shows the canvas holes in the evening. The clip-on magnifier mounts on a table, stand or scroll frame and its lens doubles as a hand magnifier. On 12–14 ct fine canvas, petit point and symbol-dense charts, 2–3× magnification is enough; battery models need no cable.
