Milward: The British Needle Tradition
Milward carries an English needle-making heritage dating back to the 1730s and is sold today within the Coats group. Hobianna stocks Milward embroidery and sewing needles, safety pins, dressmaker pins, a punch needle and gold and rose stork scissors. Needles are nickel plated with smooth eyes, sold in mixed-size packs; the scissors are small, sharp-pointed and made for thread. See Needles and Craft Tools.
Which Milward Needle for What?
Blunt tapestry needles (22–26) are for cross stitch and needlepoint, sharp embroidery needles (5–10) for free embroidery and tel kırma, long-eyed chenille needles for ribbon and thick thread; sewing needles for hand sewing and quilting. Use size 22 on 11 count, 24 on 14 count and 26 on 16–18 count. Stork scissors cut thread close to the fabric and are the handiest scissors at the hoop.
