Which Nurge Hoop Is Right for You?

For cross stitch on aida, evenweave and linen, a screw wooden hoop is the most balanced choice; 16 mm for everyday work, 24 mm for large, drum-tight projects. Punch needle wants fabric that cannot slip, so pick the plastic punch hoop or a locking plastic hoop. Display frames (round, oval, square) stretch and frame the finished piece in one step. Metal hoops suit fine fabrics and machine embroidery; clip frames make large tapestry and quilting work comfortable on a table. Choose a hoop 3–5 cm larger than the design.
