Transparent Sewing Thread

Transparent sewing thread is a fine clear nylon monofilament; the stitch is invisible on the fabric, so it is used for appliqué, quilting, sewing on beads and sequins, attaching lace and on fabrics where no colour matches. This page gathers the Mez transparent threads under Threads in clear (light fabrics) and smoke (dark fabrics). The detailed guide is in Transparent Threads, for strong nylon Mez Coats Nylbond, all sewing threads in Sewing Threads.

Usage Tip

On the machine use transparent thread on top and polyester in the bobbin; lower the tension one step and use a size 70–80 needle. Iron at low heat from the back; nylon melts at high heat. Use it doubled when sewing beads by hand.
