SEG de Paris: The French Needlepoint Tradition

SEG de Paris has been produced in France since the 1920s and is one of the world's best-known printed needlepoint brands; classic paintings, still lifes, landscapes and children's subjects are printed in high resolution on closely woven canvas. Hobianna stocks the 926, 929 and 950 series from 25×60 to 45×60 cm; canvases are sold without yarn and the colour list is on each product page. See Tapestry.

How to Stitch a SEG Canvas

Colours are read from the print, so no chart counting; work half cross (tent) stitch and the print disappears under the stitches. Use DMC Tapestry Wool (8 m, 380+ colours) or six strands of DMC Mouliné; a 45×60 cm canvas needs 40–60 colours and 150–250 skeins. Stretch the canvas on a tube hoop or scroll frame and use a size 18–20 tapestry needle. Allow three to five months at one or two hours a day.
