Hobianna's Own Fabrics

Which Fabric for Which Work?

The Nazende batik ground makes the unstitched area part of the design: sky, sea and sunset themes in cross stitch and embroidery, counted over 2 threads at 27 ct or worked freely. Plain evenweave 27 ct suits blackwork, hardanger and counted embroidery; the canvas suits hoop-free punch and satin stitch panels. Overlock evenweave edges since they fray; batik fabric may lighten slightly in the first wash, so wash cold.
