Calin Clip Frame: The Rectangular Frame Designed for Punch Needle

In punch needle the needle pushes the fabric with every stitch; if the fabric slackens the loops pull straight back out. Calin, Hobianna's own brand, designed its clip frame exactly for this: a rectangular frame with clip-on edge strips that grip monks cloth and punch fabric evenly along all four sides, so the fabric stays drum-tight from the first loop to the last. Because the frame is square-cornered you lose no fabric in the corners, wall panels and cushion fronts are punched edge to edge, and the same frame is reused for every project. Calin frames come in several sizes and are the choice we recommend for anyone punching more than magnets.

Hello Screw Plastic Punch Hoops

For round pieces, magnets and small hoop-art the classic option is the Hello screw plastic hoop in 10, 13, 15, 18, 20, 23, 26 and 30 cm round and oval sizes; the inner ring is smooth and the outer ring screw is metal-reinforced. Cut the fabric to overhang the hoop by 6–8 cm, wrap the inner ring with cotton tape and tighten the screw well; the fabric should sound like a drum when tapped. For hoop-free work see Punch Canvas, for displaying the finished piece Panel Hoops, and all hoop types in Hoops.
