DMC Coloris in Cross Stitch

Coloris is a 6-strand floss that gives four different colours in turn with one thread in cross stitch (4500 series, 24 combinations, 8 m). Alphabet and lettering charts, borders, heart and mandala motifs and children's designs turn from a single-colour chart into a colourful piece with Coloris. This category holds the Coloris colours for cross stitch; the full guide, colour card and comparison are on the DMC Coloris page. For shaded options see Color Variations and DMC Variegated.

Strands, Technique and Quantity

2 strands on 14 ct aida, 1 on 16–18 ct; complete each cross one at a time so the colour change shows in every stitch. Combine the strands by pulling from the same end so both strands run in the same colour. Blunt size 24 needle, 40–45 cm lengths. An 8 m skein works about 250 stitches on 14 ct; a single skein is enough for a small alphabet or border. Wash the finished piece at 40°C, iron from the back.
