Floss in Punch Needle
Detailed, small punch work with the fine needle is done in 6-strand floss, threaded whole without separating strands for dense, fine loops. This category gathers every floss in the punch branch: 500-colour DMC floss, four-colour DMC Coloris, Anchor floss and economical Bulgarian floss for course projects. The full range guide is in DMC Floss; the alternative with no strands to separate is pearl cotton, wool is in DMC Wool Skeins.
Tips for Punching with Floss
Use all 6 strands together and let the thread flow freely; stretch dense calico or fine punch cloth drum-tight. A short loop setting gives a dense, durable surface; if the strands slip, dampen the thread slightly or switch to pearl cotton No 8. One 8 m skein fills a motif in a 5 cm hoop; brooches, magnets and mini panels take 3–6 skeins. Coloris gives multicoloured loops from one thread.
