Etoile in Cross Stitch

Etoile is the one sparkle thread that can replace floss for a whole motif: its 73% cotton core lets the strands separate, it does not break and it lies flat on Aida like floss. Codes match floss, so you use C321 where the chart says 321. This category holds the Etoile colours for cross stitch; the full guide, colour card and comparison are in DMC Etoile. Strands, Needle and Quantity

Use 2 strands on 14 ct Aida, 1 on 16–18 ct and 3 on 11 ct, with a size 24 blunt needle and 40 cm lengths; separate and recombine the strands. If the whole ground is Etoile, count it like floss: an 8 m skein covers about 250 crosses on 14 ct. Background in floss and motif in Etoile is the favourite combination for Christmas, snowflake, unicorn, wedding and birth panels. Wash finished work at 30 °C and press from the back on low heat.
