DMC Floss for Cross Stitch Charts

Almost every cross stitch chart is keyed to DMC colour codes; this category gathers the DMC floss family from the cross stitch angle so you find the code on your chart exactly: the classic 117 range in 500 colours, Satin for glossy accents, Variegated, Coloris and Color Variations for colour shifts in one skein, and matte Floche. For every DMC range, colour card and usage guide see DMC Floss.

Strands by Count and Skein Calculation

2 strands is standard on 14 ct Aida; use 3 for fuller coverage. Use 3–4 strands on 11 ct, 2 on 16–18 ct and 2 over 2 threads on evenweave. One 8 m skein stitches about 1,700 crosses with 2 strands; divide the chart's symbol count by that to find skeins and add one extra for backgrounds. Cutting 45–50 cm lengths and separating then recombining the strands keeps the crosses flat.
