Etoile in Tapestry
When areas such as crowns, jewels, goblets, stars and water reflections in tapestry pictures are stitched in Etoile, a soft sparkle appears within the matt texture of tapestry wool. It is a cotton-metallic blend 6-strand floss; stitches comfortably on fine and medium canvas. This category holds the Etoile colours for tapestry; the full guide to the range is on the DMC Etoile page. For a stronger metallic see DMC Light Effects, for a heavy metallic accent Metallic Pearl Skein.
Canvas, Strands and Stitching
Use 6 strands on 10–12 ct canvas, 4 on 14 ct, 2 in petit point; add 1 strand of floss if needed to match the height of wool. Blunt size 20–22 needle, 40 cm lengths; keep the tent stitch direction the same throughout. If the colour card gives a DMC floss code, pick its C equivalent directly. 1–2 skeins are enough for small accent areas. Steam the finished tapestry from the back at low heat.
