Light Effects in Tapestry

Canvas, Strands and Stitching

Use 6 strands on 10–12 ct canvas, 4 on 14 ct and 2 in petit point; beside wool, mix 6 strands with 1 strand of floss if needed for full coverage. Take a size 20–22 large-eye blunt needle, cut 30 cm lengths and keep the half-cross direction the same as the other threads. Stitch metallic areas last and do not pull tight. Small accents need 1–2 skeins; for large shimmering grounds the softer Etoile is more economical.
