Aida and Tapestry Needles

The blunt tip passes the holes without splitting the fabric thread and the large eye takes 2–6 strands of floss or tapestry wool. Needle Size by Count

The higher the number, the finer the needle: 6–8 ct plastic canvas and heavy canvas No 14–18, 10–12 ct tapestry canvas No 18–22, 11 ct Aida No 20–22, 14 ct No 24, 16–18 ct Aida and 28 ct evenweave No 26, 32–36 ct linen No 28. Go one size larger for thick thread (tapestry wool, 6 strands). Gold-plated needles glide better and never rust, preferred for damp hands and long projects; assorted packs are economical across several counts.
