Which Size, Which Thread?
The higher the number, the finer the needle: 1–2 strands No 9–10, 3–4 strands No 7–8, 5–6 strands and pearl cotton No 8 take No 5–6, pearl cotton No 5 and wool take chenille No 18–22. The Brazilian embroidery needle, long-eyed and straight-tipped, does not twist the thread in cast-on knots; the bent-tip yarn needle joins knitting and sews amigurumi.
