Linen Fabric Types

Which Linen for Which Work?

Surface embroidery and hoop art take 27–28 ct; counted embroidery, blackwork and hardanger 28–32 ct; fine cross stitch 32–36 ct linen. Natural linen is the choice for tablecloths, napkins and garments. In cross stitch over 2 threads, 28 ct equals 14 ct Aida and 32 ct equals 16 ct. Wash and press linen before cutting and overlock the edges.
