Other Craft Fabrics

This page gathers the fabrics outside Aida, evenweave, linen, duck, calico and felt: Etuval Pera, Flora and Gardenia (linen-look, easy-press cotton grounds for embroidery and sewing), Etuval Jute Panama (open, countable weave for coarse cross stitch, punch and weaving) and Etuval Canvas (tapestry and punch canvas), all by the metre. Branch selections are under Embroidery and Sewing; punch fabrics in Punch Cloth, all fabrics in Fabrics and Aida.

Which Fabric for Which Work?

Pera, Flora and Gardenia give a smooth surface for stem stitch, satin stitch and hoop panels and also serve T-shirt and bag appliqué, linings and aprons. Jute Panama, close to 6–8 ct, takes thick-thread cross stitch, thick-needle punch and wall weaving, its natural colour suiting rustic panels. Canvas is the ground for tapestry and tufting. Cut 8–10 cm larger than the hoop; cottons shrink 3–5% in the first wash.
