Tel Kırma Tulle (Marquisette)

Tel kırma tulle is a countable, open-weave, stiff tulle on which flat metal strip is broken into motifs: the ground of the Turkish embroidery known as Bartın work. How Tel Kırma Is Worked

Stretch the tulle drum-tight in a frame; thread the strip into the double-eyed needle, pass it through the holes and break it at every stitch while counting the motif. Buy 0.5–1 m for a scarf edge or wrapping cloth, 1.5 m for a prayer rug, 2 m for a tablecloth. The finished piece is never ironed: steam it lightly from the back and dry it in the frame. Marquisette is wiped with a damp cloth, not washed.
